Job Title: Afternoon Bookmobile Associate 

This position is responsible for driving and maintaining the library’s bookmobile, assisting bookmobile patrons in checking items out and taking patron requests, and reaching out to adult centers and community organizations to establish and maintain bookmobile stops. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Establishes stops in Bradley County and drives the bookmobile to and from established stops on a regular schedule.  
  2. Cleans and schedules maintenance for the bookmobile.
  3. Issues library cards to patrons and assists patrons with material selection.
  4. Manages financial transactions for circulation fees.  
  5. Retrieves material from the Main Branch for bookmobile patron requests. 
  6. Treats patrons in a friendly, welcoming manner in person and over the phone.
  7. Shelves books and other materials on the bookmobile and in the bookmobile office. 
  8. Rotates the bookmobile collection between items on the bookmobile and items in the bookmobile office. 
  9. Processes bookmobile overdues and charges for lost and damaged items. 
  10. Promotes the library and bookmobile services at outreach events. 

Additional Job Functions:

Occasional mornings and weekends required. Performs additional duties as required. 

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:

High school diploma or equivalent, valid driver’s license, and ability to lift up to 30 lbs required; strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, conflict resolution skills, and computer skills; flexible team player; interest in books and familiarity with literature; two non-family references required (professional preferred)
