The parking lot has been reopened early due to all the rain last week. As soon as the lot dries out it will close again for paving. Unfortunately we do not know at this time when it will close again. The Library will post signs when the lot closes again. As in the past, please park in the Lee University lot just north of the Library and walk on the sidewalk on the north side to our main entrance. Hopefully the weather will cooperate with us this week and the parking lot will be paved and ready to go.
The summer reading program, “Be Creative” is in full swing now with everyone out of school. Registration is continuing throughout the month of June. Changes have been made to the public computers in the Library. These changes are being made for security reasons. In keeping with the majority of public libraries, instant messaging will no longer be offered. A list of free browser-based versions that do not require downloads are available at the Reference Desk.
Sites that require extra programs to function properly (other than Adobe Flash, Adobe Reader and other common add-ons) will not be accessible. Also patrons will no longer be allowed to install software on any of our public access computers. If you feel a site is trustworthy or you need specific software for short term use please ask for a “Required Download Form” or a “Software Installation Request” form at the Reference Desk. The forms will be reviewed by our Technology Coordinator and if he determines that there is no security risk the file or software will be downloaded.
